Life's updates

I have to say I am pretty amazed at all the bloggers that post every day. Damn girls! You guys are super stars. Work super hours, go running miles, and then come home to blog. After my days, I just want to come home, curl up on my floor or bed, depending on how clean I feel and just stay there.

Maybe getting all this work done is like running....once you do enough mileage, you just get it and go with it instead of constantly trying to work it into your life. Hmmm if that is the case, then let me get running down first and then maybe I'll eventually be able to blog more regularly. G-d knows I need more practice writing.

My 5k is a week from today, and I went on a running hiatus for the past 11 days. *insert mild panic here*

The past 11 days have been a whirlwind of emotions and challenges. Rushing deadlines to submit a pre-submission inquiry for work that took over the past 2 1/2 years of my life, work maintenance stuff, and most of all, finding out that they want me to speak at a conference in ...........PORTUGAL!!! *insert more PANIC here*

So basically I've been trying to stay afloat my work load and attempting to schedule work and vacation a couple weeks away, while holding down the fort since boss and her admin is off on vacation. *tears*

And to make matters more interesting, I suddenly have a suitor...however I can't get over the fact that he looks exactly like my cousin with really tiny eyes. I don't think I like him as much as he likes me; our conversations always make me want to tell him to back off a bit on his enthusiasm. I wish there was a nice way of telling things like this to people.

Why is it that when things are moving in life, all of sudden, everything likes to pile on up all at once? WEIRD.

On the upside, I finally got my ass out the door for a run.

Let us hope that by this Sunday, the route will be relatively flat...and I'll be able to shave off a minute or two.

Post date and Running

So I met up with said boy that left my heart pitter pat a while ago and the result was a simple "meh". I think the anticlimactic meeting was more so of a result of him being late, and firing off so many questions at once it seemed like I was in an interview.

I'd think I would go out with him a couple more times if he calls, but I think from the radio silence that I heard last couple of days, nothing will come of it.

On the other hand, on the running front, I did my first 2 miles consecutively at 25:49minutes. Yay!!! Since my running schedule called for only 2 miles, I didn't want to muck it up and push too hard by doing 3 just to spite it. But splits at 12:29 and 12:54 aren't too bad. I wonder if I had did the third mile what it would look like and if I would be able to hold up or not.

The 5k I registered I think is a relatively flat course, whereas the normal trail I run on is pretty hill-y for a lack of better words. Would this help? Or would it turn around and bite me in my arse? Well, enough wondering...hopefully I will have enough time tomorrow evening to be able to go for a run and then off to dinner with da sister.

I hope I keep this up. Because me, the ex-anti-runner, the plump chick is now a runner. Biatches! And it feels quite liberating. Fuck ya.

And no...those aren't my hairy legs. Just an image thanks to google search.

Looking Forward

I never like myself whenever there is a prospect of a date in the horizon. I feel giddy, insecure, and fearful...not to mention the possibility of rejection. Rejection isn't so bad once you know what a rejection is, but the anticipation of "oh what ifs..." or "omg, he doesn't like me.....wait...does he?"s will literally drive me up a wall.

I wish I can stop those train of thoughts and simply make life easier for myself....but the only thing I can say for now is that I will try. And hope, nay, PRAY that it will be enough for this boy that my heart won't explode with pitter pats at the near possibilities with him and the high chance of rejection from him.

Be still my heart.

Kissing frogs

At a friend's wedding, I met a cute couple in their mid forties and had a wonderful time talking to them. Towards the end of our conversation, the wife inquired if I was in a relationship, to which I replied in the negative.

"But you are so cute!" she exclaimed.

"haha" (awkward laugh) "Thank you, but being cute doesn't get me anywhere with guys around here; not hot enough" I replied with a small smile.

"Oh the guys around your age right now are all idiots. You are going to be kissing a lot of frogs until they get mature enough. But since you are going to be kissing frogs anyways, you might as well start early so you know exactly what you want when the right one comes along" She noted with an air of finality, turns to her husband and asks "Right honey?"

Husband nods. I laugh, and change the topic to something else.

Fast forward a couple weeks to now. I went on a semi date today with a guy I've been talking to for a while, and while hugging goodbye, he dove in for a kiss. Sadly I wasn't quick enough to duck out, and he caught me right where he wanted me--smack dab on the lips with slobber. UGH. Freaking immature frog!!! I had to use every fiber of restraint in me not to wipe my lips right in front of him. I quickly hugged him and high tailed out of there.

I suppose the unfortunate saga of me kissing frogs has begun. 1 down, and hopefully not too many to go before I meet that special person.

Frogs are yucky.

Wrong baby Wrong

"Is it better than the one you tried at Pizza Port?" he asks.

Caught off guard, I sputtered in a whisper "No, but it is much creamier."

"What?" He leaned in closer

"No, but this one is much creamier." I replied in a louder voice.

My cheeks start to flare, but whether due to the stout that I ingested on an empty stomach a couple minutes before or from embarrassment of him asking me of a private moment of ours in front of his new date, I would never know.

Him bringing the girl to our social gathering nailed the final nail on the coffin of anything that would ever hint to happen. And surprisingly, it hurt a bit on my behalf.

Unbeknownst to me, myself and I, I fell a teeny tiny bit in love (or crush, however you want to see it as) in the past month but in the past week or so, every possibility of that that crush was ripped into shreds. Ah, when will I ever learn?

Not knowing him that well, I will just assume from now on, everything we have done together was simply friends meeting out for a quick meal and enjoying each others company and no more. I just hope I can hold these thoughts the next time he leans in and gets close.

Wrong baby wrong. In so many ways.

Strange situations

I think I may have been asked out on a date for lunch tomorrow.

I say may have been because the circumstances that predate this date were not your normal "guy likes girl, guy ask girl out for lunch" scenario. SIGH. I guess I will provide a bit more details as the situation plays out as a whole and see if I can pull off what I need to pull off tomorrow. Suffice to say, I am way too self conscious and a bit worried about matters at hand. Matters including the boy being younger, complicating matters if something does happen and creating gossip for others.

So please wish me luck and that everything will be okay.
